How To Deal With A Broken Tooth?

These are some suggested immediate action steps when a dentist is not available. Note that this doesn't consitute medical advice and it is best to speak with us if you broke or chipped a tooth.

The first step would be to rinse your mouth with warm water to clean the broken area. If there was an injury, cold compress that area too. Finally, be sure to keep the broken pieces in a clean and dry place for us to investigate when we see you. And finally...

To manage the pain, you might want to take common painkillers available at pharmacies (such as Panadol). Rinsing your mouth with salt water is also a good way to reduce pain and clean the area. Whether the pain is manageable or not, you know what you need to do:

Most importantly, avoid chewing on the damaged side, and to keep the area as clean as possible to prevent further complications. Also, resist the temptation of test the damaged tooth by tapping or knocking. This helps to protect the tooth before you get to see us.
